The Summer Leadership Meeting is coming up fast! Weren’t we just at Tufts?!?
Registration Information and Form
-
Please fill out the SLM Registration Form (MS Word), and return it to Patricia Early as soon as possible to confirm your attendance at the SLM. Any relevant costs associated with the confirmation, such as campus housing or attendance at social events, should be remitted by check according to the information on the Registration Form. You will recieve your confirmation of registration by email.
Meeting Information and Schedule
- Here is a general schedule of events for the SLM [ SLM Agenda pdf ]. The agenda is subject to chance or “refinement” as the board sees fit, but should adhere to this format, particularly with regards to the Opening Meeting and Board and Council meetings.
Transportation
- Air travel in and out of Atlanta is easy to arrange.
- Once on the ground, you can take the MARTA rail system from the airport to the GSU campus and other locations downtown. If you book a hotel room away from campus, be sure that you find out the closest MARTA stop. MARTA fare is $1.75 per trip.
- If you are driving into town, you can find driving directions to campus here. We have a lot of one-way streets, so pay attention while you drive!
- Parking on campus is $6 per day; less expensive parking can be found in private lots around campus.
Housing Options
- We will be arranging on-campus housing in our NEW dorms! The cost will be $50 per night, per person. These rooms are two bedroom (singles) suites, with a common living room, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. Included in the price is linen service, providing1 pillow, 1 pillow case and two sheets towels and a blanket per bed. Cups and soap will also be provided. If you choose to stay in a dorm, please fill out the SLM Registration Form and return it to me ASAP so that I can reserve your room. I will need to reserve these rooms in a block. Don’t forget to indicate if you have a roomate preference!
- If you would like to stay in a nearby hotel room, a list of local hotels is available here.
Food and Dining
- IALLT will provide a boxed lunch for attendees on Friday. If you know you will be attending and would like a boxed lunch, please indicate it on the Registration Form.
- NEWSFLASH! We’ve just learned that the new Landmark Diner is open on the ground floor of the University Commons! For those who elect to stay at the dorms, they are a fantastic diner with a huge menu open 24-hours a day!
- There’s lots of good food around here. Besides dining on campus, the host recommends:
- Thai Gourmet (Broad Street)
- Rueben’s Deli (Broad Street)
- Dania’s Gourmet Mediterranean (Peachtree Street)
- Carnegie’s (Peachtree Center Ave)
- Tringali’s Italian (Underground Atlanta)
- Landmark Diner (Broad Street)
- Ted’s Montana Grill (Near Centennial Park)
Entertainment
- Are you kidding me? It’s downtown Atlanta! If you can’t find something fun to do here, you’re not looking very hard. Here are a few nearby suggestions:
Any other suggestions?

Can you suggest a hotel that’s convenient to the meeting location, maybe walkable?

I am not a member, but I researching the implementation of language labs in my school district. What will the breakout sessions entail? Will there be vendors?
